Back To School Time? Don’t Forget Dental Checkups

TOOTH DECAY IS THE #1 CHRONIC DISEASE IN CHILDREN. It’s estimated that 40% of children have some form of tooth decay before they even reach kindergarten. Alarming, isn’t it? But SO much of the problem is preventable through routine hygiene appointments.

What Can Patients Expect From A Back-To-School Checkup?

Just as important as finding any decay is we’ll also spend time with each child instructing them on proper home care and appropriate ways to clean their teeth. Also our office utilizes the latest in cavity protection by using flouride varnish. The varnish acts like a little “anti-cavity” battery that protects the teeth for weeks after their dental appointment!

What Preventative Measures Do You Offer?

In addition to ensuring proper home care we’ll also evaluate the child’s bite and jaw relationship between the upper and lower jaw. While your child may not need orthodontic intervention at the present time it’s good to know if the teeth are erupting properly and if the bite relationship may require orthodontic help in the future!

Add Dental Checkups To Your Back-To-School Checklist

Don’t wait until there’s a problem—even if your child isn’t complaining about discomfort. Tooth pain doesn’t usually exist until decay reaches the tooth’s pulp. At that point, it’s probably advanced and may require more extensive treatment. Good preventive treatment happens BEFORE there’s pain.
